My cart has had near to $100 worth in it for months. I'm just waiting on money. It hasn't really changed much in that time.
International Pipe Smoking Day Happy Pipe Day! NOS Savinelli Dry System (bought in 90s, first bowl today) Orlik Golden Sliced
Any recommendations for MM cobs? Leaning towards a Country Gentleman and either a Diplomat or a Mark Twain. Seems those all have larger bowls.
I like the Country Gentleman, but I don't care for any of the standard bits (stems). The freehand bit for $8 is a big improvement.
I couldn't resist, usually I smoke a pipe one time a week but I had to try my favourite tobacco in my new baby.
I had to pull out my Country Gentleman, it just seems to fit my fat hand an pudgy fingers well. I've had mixed success with the Peterson Irish Oak, it seems OK if I have a cool smoke but it gets a bit nasty if it burns hot. I probably puffed a bit too much on this one and it wasn't very good.
It's a good tip. I had some stuff in my shopping cart and then added some items to get the free shipping. I got my P&C catalog today, if I had gotten it two days ago I might have been able to reflect a bit on the additional purchases to reach $100. It's good to know about IPSD and Father's Day.Leaving items in your cart until those occasions is good advice.
Well I did it! Got 2 Huck Finns and bunch of Virginias and VaPers mostly. Spent about 30 bucks and got a good amount of stuff to try.
Nice selections, Trey! Everything you chose is good stuff! And that ladies and gents, is how you get started.
FYI...Stokkebye Luxury Navy is very, very, very similar to OGS. If you like it, you will like OGS and Dunhill Flake all the same.
@Erik Redd I believe that 14 days ago you asked about the Savinelli balsa 6mm Dry System. That pipe was NOS, so the briar benefitted from 20+ years extra curing time, and on the first bowl I can say that it's going to be a great pipe. My last pipe order included more filters just in case. The pipe itself is extremely light for its size, and the large bowl holds a full flake of rubbed out OGS. It's the only P-lip style pipe I have, also currently the only Army mount shank. The band is Sterling, and the stem is tapered acrylic. First bowl was OGS, dried for a half-hour, and it was a three match nearly full bowl. The burn and draw were perfect, and though the bowl heated up a but, the smoke remained dry and cool. The balsa was wet and tarred afterward, and is probably only good for one smoke. This pipe is a bit nicer than what I normally smoke, and the quality was apparent.
