New Pipe - new Tin This pipe is a Wessex Standard that will be dedicated to Burley. I bought it the second weekend of May in Michigan. First bowl today!
I'm falling asleep watching a movie...maybe a bowl will wake me up? Idk but if you're smoking this early you've inspired me to dig out some Frog Morton Cellar
I smoke late. Frequent insomnia. It's 65 degrees, smoking Burley, taking in the sky. I lived off San Felipe/610 a long time ago. The skies in Colorado are so different.
I couldn't live there way to hectic for my taste. My wife and I will occasionally venture downtown but an afternoon is plenty lol
I was 23. It was a blast because the economy was rocking and I only did it for 19 months, I would hate it now. I live kinda out on the Prairie east of Denver now. People ride horses down my street sometimes. This is more my speed now. All the big city issues are a half hour down the interstate. There is nowhere out here to buy pipe stuff though. I usually have to go in to DEN, or Internet.
I do enjoy that! I busted out a 21 year old Grabow and smoked some Orlik mixture earlier. It was one of my first pipes.
No pic, but enjoyed a lazy bowl of Orlik Golden Mixture (OGM). OGM is the only tobacco in my collection that contains Cavendish processed tobacco. Additionally, why didn't I try aged Burley earlier? The Solani Slices are amazing, they are like smoking aged Virginia Flake or Navy, but the smoke has an old school nutty aroma and sweetness. It seems like the tobacco the old men in the barber shop smoked when I was a child in Alabama. Or the smell makes me think of that anyway.
Earlier I enjoyed a cut of GL Pease Jack Knife Plug folded into a H.I.S. Rustic Canadian. The plug was sweet, smooth and slightly smoky. I enjoyed it.
It was like tobacco Xmas at my house today! P&C order arrived. The bag is 5oz Stokkebye Navy Flake. Obscured tin is Anniversary Kake by H&H. The pipe is my first Stanwell, and am looking forward to breaking it in. Smoking a bowl of the Stokkebye in a Rusticated Roma Billiard as I write this...
Nice to see there are pipers here! Any Missouri Meershaum fans? Later today it will be a MM General (or maybe a Country Gentleman) filled with Escudo. Yum...
Welcome to POTD! I am partial to Italian, English and Dutch briar pipes...but Escudo is one of my all time faves! My tastes generally run toward straight VA, VA/per and aged burley. Thanks for hanging out with us!
I have several cobs, but don't smoke them as much as I used to. When I do, it's usually a Diplomat or a Corn Cob Snob Freehand, which is br far my best cob but a bit heavy for clenching. I'm a big Virginia/VaPer fan also. In fact, I'm sitting on the deck now enjoying some H&H Lousiana Red in a Neerup pipe. And welcome the Pipe of the Day thread! Looking forward to seeing some pics and other tobaccos you enjoy.
Man Chris, your P&C order dwarfs mine that I posted 2 or 3 weeks ago! Is that a new pipe bag there also? I almost got one in my last order.
