No issues there, they get about 95% of my cigar business and all my butane / cleaners and general supplies I get local.
I've ordered a couple of things from 4noggins. For orders under $25 their shipping is $3.99 and is pretty quick.
Newminster Superior Slices in my tiny basket pipe. This pipe smokes hot and has gurgling issues. No matter how dry the tobacco is it seems to smoke very wet. The smooth finish is really nice with no bubbling even with the hot smokes. I'm going to salt and everclear this pipe and see if a good deep clean helps it any. If I can find the right thickness wire to replace the hinge pin I'll reattach the wind screen that came on it.
Online, Pipes and Cigars, like the other guys. I've always had great service from them, and they have a great selection. However, when possible, I do business with a local shop close to me, The Briary. They also have a substantial online business, primarily in mid to high end pipes. They have a pretty significant tobacco inventory for a local shop, and a very knowledgeable proprietor. http://www.thebriary.com
Grass cutting pipe.....John Aylesbury English Mixture in a "Coppertone" deep bend, a counter pipe from Skip back when his shop was The Tinder Box, and later The Briary. This is now my one and only Latakia pipe, only I didn't want Latakia tonight so I went with English Mixture. Believe me, Latakia will certainly ghost a pipe! I got a substantial Latakia flavor while mowing. Chris, if you get a whiff of something wafting from The Heart of Dixie out toward the Rockies, it was the Latakia ghosting from my pipe!
I need to get out for a pipe. Almost did today, but this week has been rough with school since finals are next week.
Do you clench the Dagner, or strictly hold in your hand? I really like the looks of it, but I clench fairly often, and I would worry that as short as it is, smoke would get in my nose and eyes.
What do you all think of this pipe? I kind of like it, but, that's more bend than I now like. But that's the only Graco Skip has right now. http://www.thebriary.com/Graco-23-Arcadia-rusticated-bent-apple_p_2417.html The $85 price isn't too bad. I'd have to see it in person, hold it and check out the draft hole.
I clench and hold, if you smoke a tobacco that produces a thick heavy smoke I could see it getting in your nose and eyes somewhat.. But for the most part I don't feel clenching has had any negative side effects
If you don't like it then I would be a very willing PIF recipient. That is a beautiful pipe and just up my alley in the looks department. I like the heavy bend, it lets it hang nicely in the mouth I have a very small pipe in this shape. Mine was a sub $20 basket pipe with a slightly misdrilled draft hole. It smokes a bit hot and a bit moist. I would like one in a normal size bowl with a rustic or carved finish. Maybe next year for IPSD I'll treat myself to a few higher tier pipes with some higher price tobaccos.
Insomnia post.... It's taken me many years to build my relatively small collection! Do what you can, when you can. I started out with strictly counter/basket pipes, and worked my way up slowly. It really helps to have a quality local shop where you can hold and examine less pipes. BTW, as things stand now, I plan to pick up another Briary brand counter pipe Thursday. I'll get to sort through several boxes and examine them for proper, or close to it, drilling.
It is a beauty. I have a pipe with a straight stem of the same acrylic, though it looks like the airway is coated in the Graco and mine isn't. With the clear or mostly transparent stems, the airway can appear a bit grungy after use, or if the airway is coated the coating may start flaking off after several pipe cleaners. This occurred with the Big Ben pipe I had with a clear acrylic stem.
