We're fortunate. In Colorado we have what's called "the Taxpayer Bill of Rights" which means the legislative bodies cannot raise taxes without a vote of the people.
I'm planning on it. It's not a high dollar collectible, but has a ton of sentimental value. It was last worked on maybe 15 years ago, and was running fine up until recently. I think it's pretty neat to have an almost 100 year old clock that will still work after a little tuning. Not to mention that my grandparents were newlyweds when they got it, and no doubt that clock looked down on my mother being rocked to sleep. The things that clock has seen....men going off and returning from war....babies.....depression years..... Not many clocks bought new today will last 100 years, and the vast majority are disposables with a relatively short life.
Thanks, it a very nice pipe and a one-of-a-kind. I got it from someone who was thinning out their collection. I wouldn't have thought about buying an artisan pipe at full price, but now I'm tempted.
Tonight I tried Cris's suggestion of cutting the AJ's VaPer with another tobacco. I mixed AJ's with an equal amount of McClelland 5100 Red Cake; eyeballed the proportions, I don't have a scale adequate for weighing small amounts. Actually, as I'm typing this I remembered I have a balance beam scale for handloading ammo, that would work. Trying AJ's 5100 blend in the Erik Stokkebye 4th Generation. So far, this is a decent combination. The 5100 cuts the Perique, and the cavendish still comes through.
Had big plans to smoke a bowl tonight after my sons baseball game. We get home and he wants to play basketball... Lol so I got all hot and sweaty and didn't feel Like smoking. Hope to get in some good smokes over the long weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been contemplating getting a tub of that when I place my next P&C order. If I remember the reviews correctly, many say it might not be an exact clone, but may be a little smoother, and not turn bitter toward the end as CH can, especially if you load up a large bowl of it.
Very cool smoke. I have 3 in the 320 shape now, a Sav Trevi, a Rossi (owned by Sav) and the Sav series III, which comes unfinished and has some minor fills, which is why they are less expensive, but smokes like the others without flaws.
i would agree with that. CH is very good, but CM does seem smoother to me especially in a MM cob, which is my go to yardwork/puttering around garage and yard pipe.
I happened to have some time to kill in inner Houston, so I stopped at the Briar Shoppe. They had a nice selection of pipes, not many Brighams but they did have a Chinook Volcano and Billiard. I liked the looks of the Volcano more than I expected. I picked up a tin of Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia and C&D Bijou on the recommendation of the young pipe guy there. We discussed pipes a bit, and he knew his stuff but he obviously favored high end pipes.
