Lordy, ABF is some good stuff! The only burley I like better is Edgeworth Sliced may it rest in peace...

Unlike the old Edgeworth , 656 is completely unflavored, I feel it's identical to Wessex Burley Slices.

True! I'm a sucker for both. Solani is a chocolate and nut (and Vitamin N) bomb, Edgeworth is, well, Edgeworth. The 80s era stuff it so tasty! They both rock!

It's been awhile since I last tried it, so I decided to give the Sutliff Top Shelf another chance. Although it is a bourbon aromatic, the jar note on opening reminded me much more of dark chocolate. I still didn't care for it so now it's gone to free up some space on the second shelf.

I'm enjoying the run while it lasts! I know when Saban retires, we're likely to have a few down years, relatively speaking. I'm fortunate to have lived through the Bear's years (don't remember much prior to 1968 or thereabouts) and now through the Saban years. Most schools never have a run like either of these, or at least not for very long. This would be heresy to a lot of the old heads, but I truly believe Saban may be better than the Bear, as good as he was. The last 9 years, with just a very few exceptions have been really remarkable and dominant.

My philosophy is I'm not going to waste a lot of time smoking something I don't like, just to smoke a pipe. I've got a few things sitting around that I may never smoke. Some of them aren't really bad, just not my cup of tea. I should probably PIF some of it, as someone may enjoy it. If it's truly heinous, I might toss it, and have done so.

Sorry for late reply. I drove my FIL to Florida from Michigan Sunday-Monday. Fly back Friday. Anyway I started to fast, smoked to ash finished at 43 min 58 sec good for 16th place. More practice needed but had a blast. Plus I picked up 5lbs of Arrowhead Pipe Club baccy and 2 pounds of Paul's Morning Smoke. So celllared deep on those now should last quite a while.

44 minutes is pretty good, that's about what I did to win The Briary's contest last February, I don't remember exactly. I joined the contest on the spur of the moment during their annual pipe event, and did it mostly just for fun and wound up winning. Glad you had a good time with it and scored on some baccy. Does Paul's usually stock the cube cut used in the contest? I wouldn't mind getting some of that. PS Cube Cut is VaBur and I like it. Cube cuts are interesting.

Agree completely. Next week when I return home I have an Altinok 2015 Meer (nothing wrong with it, only smoked 2 bowls through it) and a Boswell 2015 full bent egg (same thing don't smoke it enough to keep) that will be going up for sale along with some Boswell's baccy for trade.
Life's too short, enjoy your pipes and baccy and if not, time to move them along to someone who will enjoy.

Yes they normally keep stock of it. Winner had a time of 1 hour 22 min and 15 sec.

McClelland Matured Virginia #27 in a Chacom stack billiard, Gunner laying at my feet. I love my dog and matured Virginias. #27 is a naturally very sweet matured Virginia; my current favorite, Blackwoods Flake also has some stoved Virginia in it.

Dunhill Flake in my fave today. Nice fall weather, highs in mid 80's, lows in mid 60's.

A late morning pipe on a lazy Saturday. The bulls eye flake is one I intended to stock up on and cellar when P&C had their 20% off PS tobacco sale, but when the 1.5 lb box price increased drastically on the first day of the sale I reconsidered on principle. It's definitely one worth cellaring though.

Drew Estates 7th Avenue Blonde in a Medico Brylon Bulldog. Occasionally I'll get a wild hair and see if I can smoke slow enough to keep the brylon from getting hot, I haven't been successful yet.

The Texans kickoff in a couple of hours, hopefully they will look better this week. At the start of the season there was talk of the Texans playing in the 2017 Superbowl in Houston. Nobody mentions that anymore.:p

Nice fall morning. Cool but comfortable in shorts and t-shirt. PS Cube Cut in Chacom billiard, fresh ground coffee, and Gunner is protecting me from armadillos, squirrels, possums and a recently spotted fox.

Last bowl from this tin of D.E. Gatsby Luxury Flake in Rossi Vittoria Prince. More fruitiness though reminiscent of OGS. Long cut flake that encouraged me to fold rather than rub out. Never considered enriching with Perique as it stands well on it's own.
