If you let the Zippo burn a second or two before touching the pipe, it really calms down the fluid taste.
You are correct sir, they are all naptha. Just that some say they refine it more so it's better. Like the difference between cheap Zhenka vodka, and Kettle One triple distilled. <shrug> Also notable is that Ronson and Ronsonol are both Zippo owned companies. Ronsonol is just cheaper because, again, it is less refined. But it will all do the same thing.
More St. James Woods in a fairly recently acquired Nording signature. Just a couple more bowls left of this, and the verdict so far still stands. A nice tobacco, but there are much better vapers out there.
Some Peter Stokkbye Sweet Vanilla in my Macqueen Ranger tonight. Tomorrow is looking like one of those days that will have me smoking like a chimney to hold what little sanity I may (or may not) have left. lol
Its going to be cool to watch the patina form over time on that briar. It's will end up being even more beautiful than now.
I always say, "Crazy people don't know they are crazy. I know I am crazy. Therefore, I must not be crazy. Isn't that crazy?" lmao Here's a mem to express my point. lmao And here's a good joke for yall. How do crazy people walk through the forest?...........They take the Psycho Path!!!! Lmao
Nice pipe! My Nordings are among my favorites, and I have been intending to get an unfinished Nording. I've seen one that was smoked moderately over 3 years or so, and it was quite beautiful. I agree with Bama Samurai, the natural oils from your hand plus coloration from smoking will combine to give it a really attractive patina. I'd really like to see sme pics of this pipe at 3 or 6 month intervals, to see how it changes.
Had a fit of pad and picked up a couple estates. I realized I didn't have a straight or a bulldog in the collection, so I picked up one of each from Shiny Pipes on ebay. First off, a 70's Savenelli Deluxe somewhat Canadian loaded with a quickly disappearing St. James
Although most of my pipes are half bent or 1/4 bent, with one deep bend, I'm developing a liking for straights. I've got a straight bulldog, the Peterson Christmas pipe billiard, and a poker that is essentially a straight with a very slight bend. Funny also that you would mention Canadian, that's the one in particular that I'd like to have. I may yet get one of the Peterson Dracula pipes, and if I do, it will most likely be a straight billiard or possibly a pot. Does anyone happen to know if the Peterson pot has the same capacity as a billiard? The pot is shorter, but I'm wondering if it's a bit wider as well?
It smoked like a dream! I just have to get used to that bowl in front of my face all the time while clenchimg. This is the first straight I've had since the 80's. Oh, and I called it a sort of Canadian because I think it's a bit short to be a full blown Canadian, but I could be wrong.
I am a huge advocate of straight pipes! I find them easier to clean and maintain, and therefore better tasting on balance.
Humidor Labeled vintage Briar loaded with Gawaith MVF. Kudos and courtesy of @BamaT , air am toasting it now and will ponder it.
That is a really nice pipe. I've been trying to find one or a few just like that (though maybe sandblast or rusticated) to fit my budget; so far a no go though. Gonna start combing antique stores to see what I can find.
So here's my bulldog, an Aldo Velani Ultima. I picked it out mainly for the larger bowl for a bulldog, as I love my 2 hour or more smokes. I also love the way they stained it and how it makes the grain shout. Also the incorporation of some briar with the stem is pretty cool. I'm not real familiar with the name other than it's an Italian pipe, but if it smokes half as good as it looks, it's a winner for sure! About to fill it with the last bowl out of the St. James Woods, then time to try another tin. I may give the vapers a break and open up some burley, maybe some Exhausted Rooster. We shall see tomorrow. ..
