Isn't everything in Louisiana made with celery? Bell pepper, onion and celery are the holy trinity right?
Yes, there should have been a link http://pipesmokersforum.com/community/threads/pipe-cleaning-for-newbies-novices.29205/
I know, right? Green onion tops I can deal with. Cooked onions are good. I'm learning to deal with Bell peppers. I hate raw celery, and pick cooked bit out if I see them. Never use it in my kitchen. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
I for one don't taste zippo fluid, others seem too. But I have used a zippo for over 30 years when I was a cig smoker so maybe I am just used to it. I always let it burn a few seconds before applying flame to baccy. Could be taste buds are immune to the zippo fluid.
I bought a new Zippo at least 20 years ago. I carried it, used it for ciggs until I over filled it. That fluid irritated my leg where the lighter sat in my pocket and leaked. I still have the chromed unit and may get a butane candle flame insert one day.
Need to work on coloring this beast, good thing it's a great smoker. Baki Meer with a special blend that was made by a pipe club member.
Yeah overfilling sucks and I would bet 100% of folks who have a zippo has done it at least once. But zippo's can't be beat for outdoor smoking. I have heard mixed reviews on the insert. Seem to work ok, not so much outdoors with a breeze, similar to a Bic. The other thing I hear complaints on is there is only 1 hole in chimney (zippo pipe insert has a hole on each side) and can be awkward to lite if you use your left hand to strike it. Others love them.
I haven't had much success with the butane inserts or lighters. They don't seem to last long, either quit lighting or leak butane.
I like it! After a reaming, couple salt and everclear treatments, defunk of the stem - it's a beauty. Small diameter bowl will be good for a short smoke. I'll be watching for more K&P's. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
I like that polished smooth finish. Just because it can be carved into fancy sculptures doesn't mean it has to be.
Technically it was listed as an Author (320) and it's very close to it. Certainly smokes like one. As good as my other 320's Smoke, this one is certainly a step up from them.
Thank you, Sir! It was a fun project. Owning quality gear in piping or shaving doesn't have to be budget breaking. A little patience, some research, and some hands on attention to details pays off!
Looks good! Let us know what you think of the Peterson system pipe. Was it difficult to clear the salt out of the drain trap?
So far, pretty good thoughts. The coarse sea salt came right out. I pushed a pipe cleaner into the draught hole on into the bowl for two Everclear & salt soakings with a bowl reaming in-between. I had a more difficult time getting a fuzzy stick to come out the top end of the mouthpiece. It makes a slight turn upward instead of the more common straight through passage.
Beg to differ on the mount, it's nickle plated. My favorite way to clean vunlcanite pipe stems is to use metal polish like Simichrome polish, way easier.
Yup. I looked for a hallmark or 925 to indicate sterling silver. Not there. A little Mother's Finest Aluminum Polish cleaned it right up. I'll be careful not to wear through the nickle plate. The pipe shows little wear. No dents or loss of finish on the briar (if it is briar?). No tooth chatter & the bowl was quite clean. Guessing it sat unused for decades, though I haven't established a date of manufacture. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
