My Happy Daily Blend; Carter Hall & perique. Just like when you buy a new-to-you auto, after picking up this Peterson I see them all over auction sites. It's a nice one and wouldn't mind several more. I thought that lighter was purple when I bought it. Color blindness, sheesh.
OGS - big tin vs little tin... has anyone else noticed a difference between the two, other than the small tin is neatly cut flakes and the large tin is comprised of longer ribbons? Granted, I haven't smoked nearly as much OGS as some. But as I recall, the small tins seemed to have a whisper of Perique, while the large tin I just opened and smoked in the vintage Canadian seemed heavy on Perique, a very distinctive peppery flavor. It was so heavy with the pepper flavor I really didn't enjoy the last half of the bowl.
I also believe this to be true when opening the tins. The 100g tin is a bit spicier, and I wonder if it might be a different production line. Sleeves of 5 50g tins are my choice of convenience, I like the small flakes for stuffing. Though to be fair, I've carefully unwound the long ribbons and cut flakes using scissors with good success.
Revisiting PA, I thought it tasteless the first time. Letting the pouch set, it's acceptable now. Plenty I'd order from the internet, but it's good to know I can enjoy an OTC almost as well.
While I have nothing bad to say about Prince Albert, if I'm smoking from a pouch, I'm smoking Carter Hall!
I enjoyed at least three pouches of CH, then bought a tub! Good straight up, or with a pinch of Perique! Tapatalk Via Kyocera
Beautiful weather here today. A bowl of Reiner Blend 71 in a Cavicchi after work, then a bowl of PS Luxury Bulls Eye Flake in a meer after dinner. I need to buy a more LBF to cellar. Yeah, the AARP bulletin indicates I'm old.
Prince Albert always reminds me of the pouch I lost: There was an awful stink in the room. I looked under my comfy chair. I found a dead mouse that had been eating my Prince Albert! Apparently it killed him! Gave me a mental block against this popular tobacco.
Hey guys Spring is here, and this apartment dwelling part time pipe smoker may be smoking a few pipefuls. I'm almost out of pipe cleaners and I'm thinking about making an order. I probably will be ordering some of the soon to be discontinued Dunhill tins. What other tobaccos should I be seriously considering for my order? Looking for suggestions.
If you like pretty much straight VA, Orlik Golden Sliced and Capstan Blue are most excellent. Bulk is on sale this month online, Peter Stokkebye Lux Navy Flake is a modern classic. Burley: Solani 656, Wessex Burley Slices, and Peterson University Flake (50/50 VA Burley, nice fruit.) Aro: Orlik Golden Mixture is all I know
I love the bulldog - it is my favorite style! Flake tobacco is also one of my favorites. I really like Mac Baren tobacco - Navy Flake, Roll Cake, Dark Twist, and of course Plumcake Navy Blend.
Love the Cavicchi! Those are great pipes, as well engineered as any on the planet. My son has 2 of them, one a 4 dot IIRC, the other a 3. I actually prefer the 3 dot.
