Too dark for a photo of a bowl of perique in a Kaywoodie Magnum. Plenty of standing water has got a great hoard of mosquitoes seeking blood. The perique didn't scare em away.
I looked up ThermaCell. Uses cartridges? I'll see if local sports retailers stock em. Thanks! I've found Perique at a Cigar shop close by, and got a shipment in from Peter Stokkebye. I like it blended with Carter Hall, added some to Navy Flake, and do like a straight up bowl on occasion. The plum flavor is my favorite part.
Wally world will have them if nothing else. They are awesome,. We got skeeters the size of humming birds here during the first part of tree rat season. These things keep them off. I like Perque straight up at times too. I am going to try to mix some with the Prince Albert I usually smoke. Should be good times.
My haul from the Chicago Pipe Show. The prince pipe is a Parker, with maybe 2 partial bowls smoked in it, won it during silent auction (55 bucks). The other pipe is the one received for the World Championship Slow Smoke, an Amorelli, which smokes great and for just 50 bucks (entry into contest, they give you the pipe), was a steal. I finished 19th out of I believe 94 contestants at just over 51 minutes. The 1820 is 15 years old (25 bucks) and the OJK is 3 1/2 years old (5 bucks). The smokers Haven Best blend was a bonus, they had a box that was ordered by someone last year but never paid for it so they brought what they had to the show, I think around 20 tins, grabbed 2 and that left 3 tins available which were gone shortly after I bought mine.
Got my day started with Peter Stokkebye Toasted Burley in a rustic Chacom. I like the almost but not quite cinnamon pepperyness.
Are you a fan of The Green machines? I helped a buddy clear out one of his family's houses. Not for cash, but salvage. First pick of anything he was putting to the curb. Scored a set of John Deere kitchen ware. Entree & salad plates, bowls, salt & pepper shaker, two canisters, a cookie jar, 5 or 7 tumbler glasses, and maybe eight coffee mugs. It's not my style, but I have a diverse set of coffee mugs so I pulled a couple from the pile. The dishes and all might sell new for a C note, garage sale...$20? Too much to ship the whole set, but if you are passing through LC I'd consider a swap. PM your address and I'll mail you a free mug.
I grew up on a Cotton Farm. As a younger man I spent a lot of time on a green machine as we had John Deere cotton pickers. Lot of dirty hard work, but many many happy hours there. I will get a PM out shortly. I need to make a trip over there soon to visit my sister. With all the stuff I have around here there must be something that I can trade.
