Break time at the jobsite, 70°F and breezy with Gulf winds bringing moisture to the the East Coast (snow?). PS Natural Cavendish in the Old-Vic. Tapatalk Via Kyocera
I'm not really into Latakia blends anymore, but when I do indulge in a little Latakia, 965 is at the top of the list.
I recently used a special code I got from P&C to get a discount on any tobaccos and free shipping, with no minimum to get several ounces each of McClelland 2015 bulk Virginia Perique Flake, and 2035 bulk Dark Navy Flake. I have already had several bowls of 2015, and it is, in my opinion, equal to or even better than OGS. The Virginias in the Blend seem just a bit fuller, and the Perique is more fruity and smoother. I let the 2035 air out for several days, as with Dark Star or Blackwoods Flake; I smoked the first bowl of 2035 a couple of nights ago in a Chacom billiard, and was most impressed. It doesn't really seem to fit in with other Navy flakes I've tried. I've read that it is the same as Dark Star, but not as fully matured. To me, it is better than Dark Star, a little less sweet, and maybe a bit smoother. It does require more re-lights than say OGS, but that doesn't bother me. Maybe a few more days airing out would help with that. I could easily see myself buying a couple pounds of each, and jarring for the future. However, I have so many tins and jars of other tobaccos I will probably hold off on that for now. These two offerings from McClelland are worthy of consideration of anyone looking for Vaper and matured Virginia blends.
It's funny how the weather effects by blend choice. I've been smoking a lot of latakia in these past cold months. When spring comes I expect to be smoking more Va-Per's and Virginia's. Or something else, as the mood strikes.
Having a lazy morning, blending into a relaxing afternoon. PS Toasted Burley with a pinch of Perique in the Chacom.
I opened a jar of McClelland's 40th Anniversary I jarred 3 months ago to break in my Christmas present, a Tinsky 2017 Christmas pipe with a coral finish.
