Lately I've been considering going back to pipe smoking and have been looking at pipes made by Mr. Brog. There are a lot of good reviews about them. Also they have a nice selection at affordable prices. Has anyone here have any experience with them?
I don't know anything about them other than his ad copy. My pipes are all briar, I have no experience really with other material.
They do have some briar pipes, but a lot in different types of wood. I just happened to notice while searching that on some pipe smoking forums their reviews were positive about them.
There is a seller in the US, but I'll post some links from Ebay showing some I've been looking from Mr. Brog's site on Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hand-made-...045563?hash=item2361958a3b:g:-I4AAOSwKtlWpLpI https://www.ebay.com/itm/OUTSTANDIN...123665?hash=item236196bb51:g:ts8AAOSwjqVZNDC- https://www.ebay.com/itm/OUTSTANDIN...304486?hash=item259ee08626:g:xEQAAOSwAANY6O-8 https://www.ebay.com/itm/OUTSTANDIN...006077?hash=item23485e783d:g:tzwAAOSwzJ5XUciM https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mr-Brog-or...hash=item235a346616:m:mwueRYqzIMeXK8MUPE4LnMw
Thanks Chris! Ser Jacopo just gets it so "right". This pipe is a bit oversized, making it a great all evening smoker, and has a really thin bit that's a pleasure to clench.
Yeah, I've run across some really bad aromatics. Some of the old classics are the best of the lot though. They seem to be love it or hate it blends.
(grumble, made me look it up...) That was Hugh H's favorite by what I just read. One negative reviewer said,"...what it would be like to smoke a urinal cake". I can't believe a guy like H.H. would settle for anything but the best. Vanilla cased Burley? Tin or pouch note of licorice (-1), or rootbeer (+1) and PG is present (another -1), but the positive reviewer likened it to Lakelands, but not. Got me curious, but not.
