I've got a scar high on my left cheek bone that's a memento of my VERY last attempt to shave and carry on a conversation at the same time. I ended up with a Fromm Hairshaper hanging out of the side of my face and blood everywhere

Moral of the story; when you shave, close the door and pay attention!

My worst cut was this past Sunday night, after one too many beers. Wapienica straight razor, just under my right sideburn.

    I knew better.

Don't try this at home, kids.

I've actually never gotten a really bad cut since I started wet shaving. My worst cut came from a cheap disposable Schick double blade. I think something about the fixed angle of certain cartridges can cause the blade to dig in and leave a pretty deep mark.

The worst cut ever was from a... wait for it...

    Gillette Sensor Excell
Talking on phone while shaving, still have a pretty decent scar on my upper lip from that one. Didn't think t would ever stop bleeding.

My wife is the champion of getting cut in our house. She's had stitches on more than one occasion. I got a chunk bit out of my index finger by a cockatoo once. Bled for a good half hour.

My worst cut shaving is one I've gotten on several occasions. Try to get a couple of wayward hairs under my nose on the right side. I'll run the blade down my nostril and take a hunk out of it. I always do this when I'm being impatient and from getting too close to the mirror.

The bottom nozzle came loose on my Merkur HD and the blade was loose, needless to say I had a 2-3 cm gash above my jaw line. :ashamed001

Lesson learned, always check the fastening of your blade before shaving.

I've been lucky enough to have very very minor cuts even when I started with a single blade. *knock on wood*

I missed that when you originally posted it.

One of my favorite quotes about straight shaving...
"If you don't do something dangerous on a daily basis, before long you'll start to get soft. So I like to get it over with first thing in the morning."

When I was first starting out with DE shaving(about a month in) I had purchased a Red Tip, fatboy and an Aristocrat. Previous to these razors I had only used a Weishi. There was some sloppy techniques and old habits I had brought with me from disposable razor shaving that didn't matter in the mild weishi. Anyway, like werewolf I grow hair high up on my face close to my eyes. With the Weishi I had just shaved downward on that area no problem(also started out shaving with way too much pressure). Well, I took out the Red Tip and tried it. I also had some drinks that night. It took a sizable chunk of skin off my face. The skin below the eye is thin and sensitive. When I shaved downward the razor caught a chunk, following by the skin folding over down still inside the razor and then pinching, then cutting it off. Similiar to the shape of an eye. It bleed forever and left a scar and a divot on my face. It's been a year and it doesn't look as bad. Maybe it will be hard to notice in a couple more years. I also made a nice line where my sideburns end in the form of a scar. It was a new person mistake. The scar has minimized nicely since a year ago for this one and I think will completely will dissapear. A month in and I did these two numbers on myself and I still stuck with it.:D

I've never had a bad cut while shaving and have been doing it since the sixties. I think that anytime you vary from drawing the handle in in a straight line, you open yourself up to a slice. Any oscillation to the left or right is dangerous.
I have, however, had several knicks while trying disposables.
I used them for a few years and found that I would continually get little weepers and knicks, which is what caused me to try DE again.
Haven't had a problem since going back.

  15. Luckily I have scars all over my face from a wild childhood. The shaving scars don't stand out on that background.

We had a very large bathroom when I was kid. It was larger than my current living room and dining room combined. One day I was running around the house as usual and ran into the bathroom. The tiled floors were wet, and I wound up sliding across the room and only stopped when my forehead contacted the sink. I bled like a stuck pig from a cut above my eye, and had to have the cut stitched.

I still have the scar...several decades later.

At least two of the scars are from when I was a teenager and just a beginning shaver. My Dad didn't offer me one word of advice when I started shaving. I can't remember how I got the scars, but I'm thinking dull blade + pressure. :(

I got my worst EVER cut today. I was shaving with a Straight Razor thinking about how far I've come in these last few months and how confident I can shave with a straight. I got Georgetown scuttle for Christmas and a Semouge excelsior in the mail for Christmas also. So to break in the scuttle I began to shave, no problems at all. THEN I stopped to lean into the mirror to get a good look at my progress,my elbow knocked some stuff over onto my toe I jerked at the the pain of my toe. I bent down and picked up the stuff I knocked down on my toe, looked into the mirror and saw the blood. When the stuff that fell and hit my toe I happened to jerk my hand inadvertently and split my chin in half along with a good portion on my under side of my jaw. 2 hours later and 12 stitches we were finally on the way to my Aunts Christmas dinner. Merry Christmas! :)

I got my dumbest razor cut yesterday, but not on my face. I was admiring how shiny my L1 injector looked, but it had a bit of a smudge on it. So I took a piece of tissue and wiped it, carefully keeping my fingers away from the blade. Not careful enough. I now have a quarter inch cut on my right forefinger to remind me to treat blades with respect.

My worst cut happened about 30 years ago. I think I was using a Gillette Trac 2 at the time along with canned shaving cream. I was in a hurry getting ready for work and cut my neck in the soft area behind the right jaw, below the ear lobe. It wasn't a painful cut, but till this day I can still remember the blood gushing. There must be some sort of large vein in that area. It refused to stop bleeding and I had to put a band aid on it for quite a while. Couldn't shave in that area for almost a week!

My worst cut was when I tried the Japanese straight that was square pointed.
Thought I'll have to get stitches:o I still have a small scar.
