So here's my question -- and apologies if this was answered somewhere here already (I didn't go back through all 10+ pages of the thread to check): Since these are two different razors, is the impression that they *both* have the quality control issue / differing aggressiveness on the two sides? Or is it just the (possibly appropriately-named) "Odd" razor that has this issue, from what we can tell? (Understanding, of course, that the only person who has seen BOTH of these razors is @maltedmilk?) Maybe they need to cross paths after the first run through.... such that the guys who got the odd box now get the even, and vice versa Then we'd have a scientific study. By the way, @Chuck F, is there still Speick in our box? I have been dying to try that scent for a while.
I'd say it's easy to assume that the quality control process or lack thereof allows each razor to be slightly different from the others. You could buy 5 and all shave slightly different. For instance the one I had I achieved good results. I might not with the odd razor in the other box.
If there's not any in there anymore just pm me your address and I'll send you a sample from my stick. I use it maybe once a month so I'll have plenty.
Sad news about the speick...it stayed in Denver. I have just been to distracted to write about it. If you want to try used sample bar to check out the scent, I would gladly drop it in the mail. The scent is quite unique. I dig the idea of crossing the boxes. I also had considered a Cadet TTO OC pass around after the Yuma has run. I have TTO and 3pc sitting unused that I would gladly send out to Yuma group guys in the spirit of science.
I don't know how it would work, but a set of traveling experimental boxes would be fun. Could be a nifty way for guys to try stuff like injectors or SEs.
I'm game for the idea. I've wanted to experiment with injectors and SEs. I may even start one of my own soon. If someone would like to try the Micro Touch One or a Gillette Old Type from the 20s or Merkur 23c
The only thing about trying SE razors out is they are so cheap it is almost worth it to just buy one rather than pay almost as much in shipping. Just thinking. But it does encourage fellowship. I dunno. Lol
If anyone's interested in trying the highly sought after, rare, grade A gem of a Micro Touch One. I could make it happen. Id love to get everyone's opinion on this ASOTV item and all its glory.
Yes, your logic makes sense. Other than the fact that we have spent a collective pile of money mailing $3 razor around the country. And it doesn't have to be SE or injector specifically. Just a fun box for review through different eyes and perspectives.
