Hmm, founda Yuma in my drawer of fle market grabs. After reading this I may have to clean it for use.
Ugh, I have had the Yuma in my possession way too long at this point, will get it out in the mail tomorrow. I did a 2nd shave with it, different blade, but very similar result. The aggressive side is efficient but dangerous, and the mild side is just too mild. Just not a good razor for me, unfortunately. @Shotwell I will pm you a tracking number after I drop it off at the P.O. tomorrow.
Sorry fellas. Did not get to shaving today. Ran around the state of NC Christmas shopping all day. Promise a new video tomorrow.
I have had a Yuma for several years, and use it every couple of months. The first time I used it, I was scared to death based on the blade gap, but I find it to be a fairly mild razor, just a little more aggressive than a tech. I change razors weekly, and at the end of the Yuma week, I am sorry to put it away. As with all razors, if you use it with respect and learn it's idiosyncrasies, you can get a good shave. I hope you all enjoy using it as much as I do. I am enjoying this thread, and will continue to follow "The Exploits of the Yuma and Bluma."
Love watching / listening to you shave! Really easy to listen to. Sorry you didn't have a great experience with the Arko, and omg, I can't believe you're actually gonna let the "master" Walmart bathroom urinal cake soap touch your face tomorrow.
Another fun review! Looks like the shaving gods may have taken some of their favor away from your shave, huh? I hate it when I use a known setup and somehow get a disappointing shave. At least you have a couple of variables you can point to as likely root cause! For a disappointing shave from an otherwise proven setup, the weakest link is... ME! SO... are you really going to try that "stank" soap? Talk about cringe worthy shaves! No one has triple dog dared you, so you don't have to! But if you do... I'll be watching!
Well gents there appears to be a challenger out there for the YUMA. Now if you had received these razors first you would have to spend some time in, er, uh, with Sik Bay! http://turkshave.com/index.php/razors-shavettes/product/35-sik-bay-safety-razor You must admit it is one Sick razor!
Wow. I like the Sik Bay. It has a different sort of cheap charm. It looks to be made better than the Yuma. Also, the Orak razor in the linked page looks to be the bridge between the Sik Bay and the Yuma.
<sigh> Good thing I am out of money right now. I am still tempted to order one each of Yuma, Sik Bay, and Orak, though. Wanna bet they are all made in the same plant? Rather like the pictures of hamburgers in fast food windows, I bet the samples in the photos are the "best of the best" for each. Even their photo of the Yuma made it look pretty good!
Day 3 in the bag. Video uploading tonight. You may get a laugh or two. I (attempted) used the urinal puck soap...results? You'll see.
BTW, regarding the Sik Bay razor... Someone besides me go to Google Translate and translate that name ("Sik Bay") from Turkish to English. And tell me if you get what I got for the English translation. Just do it. Don't ask. Just go try it.
That is not what I was expecting. Very funny. But unexpected. My GFs best friend is Turkish. I think some questions need answering!
