Does anyone know all the possible blades that can be used in the Mongoose?

    Tryablade from @ImSpicy has a $10 sampler that includes;
    - Feather Pro Super
    - Feather ProGuard
    - Feather Professional
    - Kai Captain Original
    - Kai Captain Sharpblade
    - Kai Captain Titan Mild
    - Kai Captain Titan ProTouch
    - Kamisori

    I assume that's a pretty complete list?

Does any of you Mongoosers out there have a particular favorite that you found to work the best?

All my shaves have been with the Feather Professional. It's on the mild side for me, provides a very predictable and "easy" shave, and I consistently get 7 shaves out of a blade. I'm sure Clint will be along shortly to talk about the Feather Professional Super. That's that blade I want to try the next time the Mongoose comes up in the rotation. (I'm also on the waiting list for the OC baseplate. :happy093:) Do you have your Mongoose yet?

No - just got the 'you're up!-email and submitted my paypal, etc info to them. I haven't actually been invoiced yet...

Have they told you anything about the OC baseplate wait time yet?

They told me to stay tuned. I thought I heard July/August. But it's still in prototype stages. I used the Pro's and the Pro Supers. I prefer the pro's as they are a little more mild.

I was on it for three months but I believe they are speeding up now.

This link shows you exactly the email you get from them - incl. price options.
The only unknown at this point is when their OC baseplates will be ready.

Congratulations! I'm sure you'll have it shortly. And no, I haven't heard anything on the timing of the OC baseplate.

    Congrats to getting the email.

That's the complete list as far as I know. I have used them all except the Kai Original and Kamisori. From my use, I could not tell that much difference between the guard blades ( Kai Protouch and Feather Proguard) and their non guard counterparts. Once I finished the samples it was not worth the cost difference to go with them. In the beginning my favorites were the Feather Pro and the Kai Mild. I really liked the Kai Sharpblade as well but again not worth the cost difference. I have since moved to using the Feather Super blades. During my initial blade evaluation, the Super gave a super close shave but it was too much for me. However after using the razor for well over a 100 shaves and perfecting my technique the Super blades work very well for me. The blades in this razor allow me to do things I would not consider with any other razor. The first pass for me is ATG followed by XTG. I have also found that as my technique improved the blades lasted longer. I can easily get 14 daily shaves out of a Super. For prospective, I have never been able to get more than 3 shaves from a DE blade. The razor is very intuitive to use but it is a different bird and does take some time to learn.

Absolutely! I'm afraid of your AGT, then XGT technique. I may stick with my normal shave: WTG, AGT and maybe XGT. We'll see. Any suggestions for a starting blade, since I'm flying by the seat of my shorts?

I would do the normal routine. It was only after using the razor for almost 3 months daily that I varied from my normal 3 pass shave. Since you have them, I would start with one of the guarded blades.

This thread has all my thoughts on the first month

My first Mongoose shaves were with the Kai Captain Titan Mild blade.

I found this out the hard way. Feather Pro Light Blades DO NOT FIT the B-3 Mongoose Razor. Fortunately I only purchased a few from Try-A-Blade.

Guys who are in the know use dog groomer blades. True story! ;)

If you use Try A Blade be sure to take a look at the Mongoose Pack. It lists all the blades that fit so that you can pick and choose if you don't want one of all the choices.

I have the Mongoose Pack but foolishly added a few Feather Pro Light blades.
