    Super simple, quick, and delicious! In less than an hour, you can have homemade biscuits and gravy in your tummy!

    3 Cups Self-Rising Flour
    1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
    1/2 Cup Shortening
    2 teaspoons Honey
    1 1/4 Cups Buttermilk
    melted butter

    Preheat oven to 450 F.

    Mix together the flour and baking powder.

    Cut the shortening into the flour mixture.

    Stir in the buttermilk and honey.

    Using your hands, pat out the dough on a floured surface, then fold in half.
    Repeat 3 more times, folding from each direction (fold left, fold right, fold top, fold bottom).
    Pat dough out to roughly an inch thick, and cut with a biscuit cutter.
    Place the biscuits 2-inches apart on a baking sheet.

    Bake at 450 F for 10 minutes or until they start browning.
    Brush melted butter on the biscuits and bake another 4 minutes or until golden brown.

    Brush the biscuits with more melted butter.

    If you don't have buttermilk; in a glass measuring cup, add 1 tablespoon white vinegar and top off with enough milk to equal 1 1/4 cup. Let sit for 5 minutes. And it's ready to use.

    If you don't have honey; this recipe started out with powdered sugar. It was good, but I felt honey would be better, and I was right (IMO). Either will work.

    If you don't have self-rising flour;
    Self-Rising Flour
    3 cups all-purpose flour
    1 tablespoon baking powder
    1½ teaspoon salt
    3/4 teaspoon baking soda

    If you don't have Sausage Gravy;
    see the next recipe.
