A very good shave this morning. Not quite up to those earlier week. Catie's Bubbles is very easy to lather with a good scent but I do not find it as slick as my other soaps. I seem to get better shaves with slicker soaps when using the Mongoose. Finished off with CC Sandalwood. Happy Friday everyone.

Here in Boston area, the weather guys scare us by saying snow could be real bad, and when it isn't , they just laugh it off, as in "Oh well, hey, what the hey".

Well they always say here that total snowfall amounts in any given area will depend on the actual track of the storm. Translated - "we have no *%&*#$ idea where it's going to snow or how much so just wait until we tell you what you got". :angry019:

I remember a lady saying, with great glee, "We are NOT going to miss this!" My first reaction to her was that she must love blizzards.

Sweet shave. It's been a while since I've used MdC and wow this soap is the goods! Definitely a top 3 soap. The Blackland Blackbird perform flawless! I love this RR boar brush, it's breaking in nicely. First time using Floid Vigoroso, a wonderful classic barbershop scent.

The cigar box is where I keep my small blade stash. Got it for free and just liked the look so it has been incorporated into the den.

The J type injector is definitely much better suited to being an everyday shaver and not for when I skip days. Today's shave was irritation free according to both my skin and the alum. I did my usual two passes of WTG/XTG first pass and ATG second pass plus touch up. Decided because everything felt great I would do a little extra touch up under the jaw line which has been an issue area for my injector shaves. Ended up catching the baby and as I said no flame ups with the alum. Also still loving the Maggard brush!

As others have said welcome aboard! @PLAla had a good suggestion of getting over to tryablade.com and getting some blades to try. He has a sample pack of the ten most popular blades or something like that. I would buy at least two or three of the packs so you can use each blade a couple times to decide which works best for you. Again welcome to the 30 day thread. Definitely share your experiences and always feel free to ask questions.

Interesting shave today. Since I haven’t really been doing anything specific on this month’s focus, other than shaving regularly, I decided to try something else. I am going to be getting rid of a lot of my DE razors soon. I plan on minimizing them, as I don’t use them much. I want to keep my three SuperSpeeds, (Blue, Regular, and Red tips,) and my Fat Handled Tech. Last month I got a New Short Comb in trade that is missing the top cap. It’s not all that useful to me without it. I checked, and the Tech cap fits it. I am considering keeping both base plates, and having two razors in one. I have a case that doesn’t match any of my razors, with space for a blade box, so this would fit perfectly in it. I am considering getting the tech and the base plate for the new replated, and re-doing the case for my Franken-razor. Decided to do a test shave today with the SC set up. Used my Dubl Duck 10066 brush and Maggard’s orange menthol soap. The knot shed about 10 hairs. I hope I didn’t screw it up when I shaved it down to fit in the handle. I can almost see the bottom of the soap container!

Every time I use a DE I am reminded of what a huge difference in the day to day life of men that DEs would have made over straights. It would have been such a change in their day to day routine. Did N/S then S/N with the SC plate. Some reduction, but nowhere near enough. Switched to my Tech baseplate for some touch up. Got my neck better than my straights usually do, but my chin isn’t as good. CCS plus over all. I might need to spend a bit of time with this combo to make sure I really like it enough to send it out for plating. The weird thing was, the razor with the Tech plate felt more aggressive than the OC. It might just be that I am not as familiar with that razor. Like I need to focus on it…
