This will be very interesting. You have my attention!

I also didn't know the short Hydro-magic lever was the earlier model.

This being one of the dearest to me razors...I'm looking forward to this set of comparisons.

Here is one of the earliest ads I found for the hydro-magic. It also contradicts Appleby's date of 1955 as you can see in the ad itself that it is from 1954. Notice the style of lever on the razor. It is that short lever style like this razor and I2v2 which is up for tomorrow. The longer lever we know came later because you see it on razors introduced afterwards like the Type J3/4 and Type K injectors.

Also reading your posts about the silver head I2 being more aggressive try using it and your other I2 and make sure you use both at the same angle. I think that is why you found it more aggressive is that you used a shallower angle than what you normally do with your other I2. I am going to test that myself since I have one and retest the J3 Golden 500 since I may have done the same thing with that razor not realizing I used it at different enough angle that it may have skewed my comparison with the I2.

Today I tried out my Gem Clog Pruf. Great razor. Don’t use the SE too much so I think I try several out.

I am not surprised after todays Shave, that the Mongoose was a highly sought after Razor before the market was flooded with alternatives. We are off for the weekend with a Reunion Dinner this evening. After todays Shave I may well be OK For this evening do without a touch up, it was good:). Have yet to make my mind up about which Razor to use over the weekend, as Bathroom lighting in Hotels is not always conducive to a good Shave.

    Colgate Mug Shave Soap

    TNNSER 3D
    CVS CS

    Barbasol AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Colgate Mug Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #30RS Brush. I did two passes with the TNNSER 3D razor with a CVS CS SE Blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I couldn't decide which sort of Friday to have, so I plumped for a Fatfeatherweight (is this a new oxymoron?) Friday.
