Beautiful collection Karl. Glad to hear about the cut down Feathers. It made my late Canadian E2 come alive.

Well, not all that deep - I had to break out my Triumph set and take a look. :ashamed001:

Yes, my Triumph has a flat cap. Also, the handle is slightly different. It is fluted, but also has ridges on the edges of the flutes.

Yes, Waits refers to the head as a "flat" head. By whatever name, it is the razor on the left, with a standard Gem 1912 on the right.

    Razor: Bunny V2 NOTSO comb
    Blade: Schick Twins
    Soap: Tabac
    Brush: WD Pure Black Badger
    AS: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

I went and had full intentions of using my PAL Adjustable today. When I saw my poor Bunny V2 sitting there all sad. I had to give it a go. I decided to load up the twins for a mother cool ride. Man was I NOT disappointed. I had 2 full days growth. This Tabac lather is awesome. I got another great creamy slick lather.

First pass WTG using a Feather touch. I hold the razor just enough not to fall out of my hands soft. Then I just lat the top spring against my faced lower until contact is made. There is ZERO pull on this thing. It just slid over my face like nothing. I was thinking I was loosing my hearing as there was almost no sound. But seriously it is very quiet. I finished my first pass and did my usual feeling around and found the reduction stellar today.

Second pass XTG went just as well. I could have easily stopped there with a true DFS. Needless to say I had to go for the gusto.

Pass 3 ATG went just as good as the first 2. I finished with the best shave I have ever gotten. Today I was in the zone.

I might have gotten a good shave with a clam shell today:)

You know....I would like to get comfirmation from somebody who knows "ShadowsDad"....But he had a GEM 1912 style razor from 1924 that looked exactly like yours. And it had the Curved blade cover like a Damaskeene with the fluted handle exactly like your handle...He called it the "Goldilocks 1912" because it wasn't too aggressive and wasn't too mild, but just right....And this guy loved very aggressive BUT smooth shaving razors...

Check it out.....if it's plenty aggressive but super smooth, it might be that GEM 1924....
I'll ask @Billyfergie and @spidey9 ....they both know ShadowsDad....What do you guys think....Do you remember Brian's 'Goldilocks' GEM 1924 (1912 style)?

    Adventures with my E2:

I finally, just today, managed to get a satisfying, close shave with my E2. Not my best shave, but it was close and no blood loss. I have to admit I've been really struggling with this razor. And even though I managed a decent shave I still feel if I'm not careful it will jump up and bite me. I don't know what was different today, I guess my injector "technique", such as it is, has improved.

When I started using this razor, I looked closely at the blade gap of this razor and this is what I saw:
    Teeth.JPG
And it treated my face accordingly.

But Hermie finally got to work...
    Hermie.JPG

And, today, the E2 was much more civilized:
    No teeth.JPG

So my adventure with the E2 has been successful, but, just to see the difference, I grabbed a DE and it felt like an old friend. I'll keep my injectors; they're cool looking and unusual. But they'll be down the list of my favorite things to shave with, I think just above a rusty tin can lid.

Is your E2 a U.S. or Canadian made ? I believe the Canadian ver. what I own to be more aggressive. I like "my little monster" but initially found it to be aggressive on my neck on the up stroke ATG or even XTG/CTG depending on hair growth. A light hold closer to the head allowing for the head to float as desired alleviated that issue. What blade did you use. chick or Personna/TPella ? My E2 can deal with a weeks worth of growth like some of my best DE razors dealing with a 2 day growth. Try a pre-shave or post shower shave to see if it makes a different. (Just remember to never load new blade into empty razor to avoid scratching blade.)

    Red,

Thanks for the comments. I think I was told by someone here that I have a Canadian E2, but I'm not sure. How do you tell? (I'll post a better pic later). I'm using Chick blades and, frankly, find them wanting. They tug a bit beyond my liking, and don't strike me as very sharp. But I've nothing except DE blades to compare to. If I had a week's worth of growth it's my impression these blades would take 15 passes (OK, I may be exaggerating, but you get my drift). Finally, I did manage a light touch like you described (post shower), maybe that's why today's shave was a success. I hear such good things about injectors I can't help but think I'm missing some part of the equation.

If it is a Canadian E2 the later version. The spring will not flip open. I needed to use a cut down Feather AC. Per @Billyfergie. That made a world of difference. It made it a Very efficient shaver.

There is no difference between the Canadian & USA Made Type E 2 Models..If I remember rightly you got one that opens..The Canadian one that opens is the exact same as the USA One that Opens..The Canadian Ones have made in Canada Stamped on them..;)
