Love the B&W Photo Bruce. Is the Oleo soap sample vegan based? My Oleo is vegan based and I will likely try one of his other bases next time.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

They tried to talk me into it last quarter and I refused it. This time they "asked" by congratulating me on being moved. So yeah, congrats, condolences, time will tell.

    Thank you, gents!! Much appreciated!!

Clint, the Excursion is (I’m 99.9% certain) canard-based. I’ll have to double check.

Really cool, Mark. Hard to tell from the angle, but it looks like the tips on that boat have really split out. Are you happy with it, now that you’ve had it a while?

It sounds like your bevel is set so you do not need to spend more times on lowers grits. Once the bevel is set move on, once you have ‘erased ‘ the marks from the prior grit move on. I also like my edges, crisp, very sharp so unlike many of my fellow dark siders I prefer synthetic stones. I usually finish with a Naniwa 12k then a Shapton glass 16k then go to my pasted strips of CrOx and FeO3. This gives sharp edges but still smooth.

What are using for a finishing stone? Pasted strops?

I have pretty similar preferences. I go from a Shapton 12k and then finish on lapping film. I like that crisp feel also.

Tuesday June 26 - just fun shaves

Schick E2 / Personna or vintage Schick (2 or 3)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush
    Fendrihan Lavender Sandalwood soap sample
Alum and Jeeves Bay Rum splash

My last shave and view of the thread was Friday. I am now so far behind (about 30 pages) that I am giving up on trying to catch up this month. Bouncing lightly through, I did enjoy seeing the usual excellent photos and reports.

Randy @BaylorGator, I hope you have recovered well from that nasty-sounding fever you had. Neal @NCoxSTL, congratulations on the changes towards better health, and best wishes for success in pulling your new store up by the scruff of its neck. Chris @Bama Samurai, glad to hear the sternum issue seems to have mended. And I hope everyone is having a happy and healthy month otherwise.

Today's shave went well. The synthetic brush made quick work of raising a good lather from the Fendrihan soap. After that, the E2 wiped off both the lather and my four-day beard in two easy passes. There was a lot more blade feel to this injector today than there was to the Supply Co one last shave. Part of the difference is the different shaving angle required, but probably some was the difference between a blade with 21 shaves behind it and one with two or three.

At the end, I treated myself to a healthy dash of the excellent Jeeves Bay Rum splash.

Got back to the room a little earlier than normal, and really took my time tonight. More than I usually care to for a Best Western shave. I was rewarded with a dolphin smooth face. A healthy splash of Gin and Tonic, and I am feeling especially clean.

On a side note, being a guy who never wins anything, I was super pleased last night to find out I had won CRSW’s current contest.

I am pumped to try the Glide base, as I have only heard good things about it, and it is just a bonus that the scent is a vetiver.

Hope you all have a good evening.
