I’m definitely having fun! I’m probably going to go the Feather razor route! No stropping, honing or maintenance that way! My son gave me a Feather SS Razor.

Nice shave and recap, Jeff! The Ronson is a neat looking razor. I know some folks on S.E.R.F went crazy for them.

Clint I believe that’s a Feather SS as it is identical to the one my son gave me. The Maestro (@Primotenore) should feel free to correct me if I’m mistaken, as I am a neonate knowledge-wise in these matters.

Is the Ronson a newly fabricated razor? As Andrew said people in the Facebook shaving groups have created almost a cult following for the Ronson.

Yeah, Andrew, there’s a clique there and at the Shavenarket. It is a great little shaver, not up to Auto Strop or Shake Sharp, but just about!

Appropriate mushroom cloud lather formation after blowing up the soap! Nice shave, Joseph.

No, Perry, the razor was manufactured in 1931. It used proprietary blades, and just never caught on in the mainstream. People mostly use modified DE blades, which is a royal pain in the keester. A much smaller group use injector blades, which requires direct blade hands-on, and thus scares away many. I think it provides a better shave, as I’ve used both methods. I’ve never had a problem. It was this little razor’s blade setting that led to my use of forearm weights to offset my tremors. Worked so well that I returned to learning straight shaving using them.

Based on no personal experience, but from everything I’ve read, Blair, people find the larger blades almost easier to use after getting accustomed to them.

Here's my personal take on normal vs wide body straight razors. I like the 5/8 and 6/8 razors because they are light, easy to maneuver around tight spots and I don't have to move my face to see the blade while landing. The larger blades have the cool factor and can hold more soap before I need to rinse because it can shave a larger area. To me, larger blades are more efficient than the smaller blades. Although, I don't have a beard or goatee, then I would think that it would be easier to line up the facial hair with the smaller blades.

My understanding, which may be wrong, is that the vintage razor was made by the same company that makes lighters.
