Right, I know it's Blood Sweat&Tears.....was just being silly. You're talkinto a guy who thought "And When I Die" by that group was "Carry On" by Chicago.
Day 16 of 30 days of straights I had ordered three new Henckel razors a couple of days ago. I received them yesterday. I had originally planned on sending them out to be honed. However, looking closely at all of the blades, I could see that they had a perfect edge on them. I grabbed the smallest ( the 4/8 round toe), stropped 40 times and proceeded to shave. This is a nice razor. I did cut myself twice through doing things I know I should not, but overall, I came out with at least a DFS. Does anyone know if Henckel razors have a good or bad reputation? These are the INOX (stainless steel) ones - 4/8 round toes #89 1/2, 6/8 round toe #17 1/2, and 7/8 square toe #17). Thanks Brian. I appreciate the encouragement. If you like what you're doing (and it sounds like you do), I wouldn't rush retirement. For one thing, you'll have to start paying for your own coffee & donuts, lunch, and travel. I still have plenty of things to figure out. When I mess up, I just say I'm a work-in-progress. My Bride and I joke all the time by saying, "we'll know just what to do next time." Lately, it's been "smarter every day."
I like your attitude. It sounds like you have a special wife as well. My wife and I enjoy bike riding and travel. We will have fun too.
I married up, that's for sure. And your Bride sounds special too. I can't wait to hear about your retirement adventures.
-Henckels 13/16 RP -Simpson Duke 3 Butterscotch -Stirling Island Man Soap and Splash I got the angle dialed in with this blade today, and had a really comfortable shave. I'm still not entirely comfortable with the length of the blade compared to the AC types, but I'm getting a little better with it.
Unfortunately, I don't have first hand experience with the Henckel INOX razors, but everything I have read about them says they are generally well regarded.
Thanks. I really don't know anything about straight razors. Now, the difference between an executive and a fat boy is ...
