    Thanks Chris!
I've never been a big fan of the "velcro sound" but for shaving I guess its a good thing and I'll bend my mind around it all for a close, smooth shave.

    Thanks for the never-ending tips!

    This is a mongoose:

As the animal in question in my original post is obviously not wearing a beret, I contend it is indeed a mongoose.

Well I guess I know where I'm stopping after work! I'm a sucker for punishment with this razor.

One pack should be ten blades. Three and out is a good way to learn! Good luck!

Your "Mongoose" is not wearing his hat, so it is apples and oranges.

The pack of Schick branded blades I picked up was only 7 blades. I feel ripped off.

A mongoose in a hat is just silly. Let's keep this debate on a serious level.

    SE September:
Going with the only SE razors I have this month. I have used these razors very little, so a month will be a real challenge. I'll use the Red Tip for touch ups. Shave soap, After Shave will be pick day to day. I will start tomorrow on the September 1st. Have a good night. Wish me luck.:happy108:

In the jungle the Mongoose would lick the salt from inside your helmet liner at night. Good to have around, no snakes.;)

And I'm willing to bet you never saw one wearing a silly straw hat.

No, they would sit on your head to lick the inside of the liner. I didn't move and eventually was able to sleep with them there. Would only see there heads in the daytime and never saw one with any kind of hat. They are fast and travel in family units. Much like Grunts. :)

Good info Vince. We're on a similar path. Great minds think alike.

    SEPTEMBER FOCUS: Single-Edge Razors

    #1 - Eversharp-Schick Model G Injector
    8-31-15.JPG

I used this razor once before and didn't give it a real chance. When I realized it was different than a DE, I set it down and left it in the closet.

Setup included Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic (for menthol Monday) along with my Whipped Dog Silvertip.

    Impressions:
    1. This razor is very light; it feels "toy-like" in my hand.
    2. This razor provides very loud feedback (nice)
    3. This razor is very mild seeming to allow you to be more aggressive with less chance of bloodletting.
I did my normal 3-pass shave this morning (WTG, XTG, ATG). I really concentrated on using as shallow an angle as I could muster. This razor appears to permit a very wide choice of angle from dragging the blade across your face (not good) to gliding it across your face (good). To be honest, each pass didn't seem like it was accomplishing much. After the third pass I still needed a few touch-ups in more than just my normal problem areas like the jaw line. The result was a decent enough shave, but it felt lacking somehow. For now, since we're only on shave #1, I'll take the blame for my lack of technique. I'm still excited about the razor and the others to come in this 31 day September trial. :D

In preparation for tomorrow's kickoff I have been comparing my J1 and L1 injectors. Of course the J has a round handle and the L has a square handle, but the other differences are a little more subtle. The side by side photo shows the the L has a wider cap, whereas the J has more of the blade exposed.
    image.jpg

The J has a bar with horizontal grooves.
    image.jpg

The L has the same grooves but also little tabs or nubs along the bar.
    image.jpg
You can also see the cap width difference a little better here.
Other than this the razors are virtually the same. Length, weight etc...all equal. Will they shave the same? We'll see.
