1. Well, I know it could be expensive to try different razors until you find the one you like (Vintage Razor Rental Business Maybe a good idea? Hmmm, have to think about that.........) Anyway, lost my train of thought. I have bought, sold, collected and shaved with so ,any razors it is impossible to count, however, for whatever reason, I always end up back with a razor that just happens to be from my birth year. Totally coincidence by the way. I use a Gillette Date Code Z3 1954 Super Speed with Gillette Silver Blue blades. If anything, this would be a good place to start as well as an inexpensive test as they are not that expensive on the auction sites. Also have to keep in mind that a blade has not touched my chin or moustache in over 40 years so not sure how it works there, but what I do shave comes out to be BBS.

Anyway, just my 2 cents worth of thoughts

  2. I'm a fan of using my 1961 Gillette Slim Adjustable with Astra blades. I'm no expert, but so far that's the combo that personally gives me the best shave. I still plan to try other combinations of blades and razors. I have a few vintage Gillettes that I rotate.

  3. As far my experience goes I think its a trial and error journey, you can't pick one (actually you can) but just especially speaking if you're going with the safety razor I believe go with the one that you most comfortable of and open gates for the new ones to try as the time pass... usually speaking anything that has a decent handle would do the trick but I believe its more about the look thats matter to :)

  5. I recently purchased a 1964 Gillette Slim Adjustable! Turns out this year is the most sought after due to it being in the 007 film lol

  7. Hi all. You may have noticed that we are doing some spring cleaning in the summer. The Safety Razors thread is a place to show various razors and discuss the razors themselves. It is not the place to post your daily shaves. There's just way too much overlapping and redundant posting in this thread. Please post those in their appropriate area, the Shower or Shave (SoS) of the Day thread. Thanks all!
